Validation Rules

Validation rules are constraints that help ensure entered data are plausible, correctly formatted, and suitable for analysis. They are one of the most important benefits of electronic data capture. In paper-based systems, errors may only be discovered after forms are reviewed or entered. In REDCap, many errors can be detected at the point of entry.
